Desert Garden

Narrow paths wind through the 12 acre Desert Garden, providing a convenient way to show plantings in the foreground without risking either cast or crew too close to cactus spines.

The close juxtaposition of unusual cacti and other succulents is not designed to simulate the vast, barren open spaces of the actual desert, rather, it creates a rich, varied, sometimes otherworldly background setting; some plants seem to have sprung directly from Dr. Seuss illustrations. (More about the Desert Garden.)

In the non-public parts of the garden, paths are not paved.
In winter, Aloe Hill is covered in red blooms.
Narrow paths wind through the garden, so you can get foreground plants in your shot without damage (to you or the garden).
