| In the fall of 2005, the Huntington Gallery was closed to the public and the art objects were removed so restoration of the building could begin. In the brief window of time between closure of the gallery and the beginning of construction, three productions were permitted to film inside the gallery—something which had always been completely impossible when the building was still open and full of artworks. “The Good German” was the first and only feature (the other two productions were episodes of the TV series “Nip/Tuck” and “E-Ring”). The large drawing room, the dining room and the main hallway were transformed into rooms in a German mansion, post World War II; a party and several discussion scenes took place between George Clooney, Beau Bridges, Leland Orser and others. Some scenes were also shot in front of the building. |
